Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is a chemical compound. It is a clear, slightly yellowish solution with a distinct odour. Sodium hypochlorite is produced by reacting chlorine with a solution of sodium hydroxide, which is created using sodium chloride (salt) electrolysis.
Sodium Hypochlorite shows, as well as chlorine, a very high reactivity and oxidizing power, but as a solution it is much easier to handle and more cost-effective than chlorine. Sodium hypochlorite is used in many applications, most of which involve disinfection and oxidation.
Sodium Hypochlorite is widely used in the following applications:
Industrial Chemicals sell diluted solutions of sodium hypochlorite with different active chlorine concentrations:
- Active chlorine concentration of 150 g/l
- Active chlorine concentration of 170 g/l
